How’s that for a blog title?! Talk about dramatic ?

The before:

I use my Vitamix blender for a lot of stuff. I usually have a smoothie every morning or at least 4-5 days per week. My vitamix is the strong high quality blending machine I can count on to get the job done in no time. No problem. Smoothie = perfecto. I had been through my share of junky blenders in the past and I was so tired of frozen bananas throwing my blender into a stand still. Really? C’mon blender.. toughen up! So, I invested in a Vitamix blender a couple years ago and have been happy ever since. ?

Please share – Do you make smoothies regularly? What is your favorite blender to use?

The breakdown:

I guess I started to take my Vitamix blender slightly for granted. I didn’t realize how much I depended on it until it was gone. As they say “You don’t know what you got till it’s gone” Shiza.

Well now I know. I had never done this before but I finally did it. I try to be as present as possible and be in the moment when doing things each day (makes me happier to live in the present ya know?). So there I am getting my Monday morning smoothie ready. It’s going to be my favorite cocao banana maca smoothie. Full of adaptogenic maca and antioxidant rich cocao, Just the kind of stuff I like to boost my energy and keep my mind sharp (oh the irony…)

I may have been listening to a podcast whilst pouring ingredients into the blender, and then I may have been texting my hubby while using a spoon to stir and add a glob of almond butter to my smoothie. And then I may have become distracted, threw the blender lid on and started that puppy up!

Whoa what a sound!

I was thinking: Holy crap, are blended pumpkin seeds making that much racket in my blender ?- then within a half second I realized, holy eff bomb I totally left my spoon in there. Needless to say that is one tough blender. The blades were fine, the spoon, not so much. One little part cracked that protects the blender motor and so off to Vitamix repairs it went. (sidenote: I think they have some great customer care!)

The collapse:

Soon after my blender and spoon got into a wrestling match, I realized just how much I miss and NEED my blender. How do I make my smoothies now? A magic bullet sitting in my cupboard? Le sigh.. I guess so – It just doesn’t compare unfortunately. Leaking seals, and large chunks of unblended spinach is what I get in my smoothies now. It kind of motivates me to NOT have smoothies. So now, each morning I am left scratching my head wondering what on earth I would rather have for breakfast. Nothing. The answer is nothing. I want my delicious smoothies! It’s summertime and I am in smoothie mode.

What is your go to breakfast during the summer months?

From there things have only gone downhill. I haven’t been having smoothies each morning which leads me to feeling different and tackling my day differently. I heard this saying once “If you have a green smoothie for breakfast, you make green smoothie decisions all day” I am finding this to be so true and I miss my smoothie mindset and I can’t wait until my Vitamix blender is back in my warm embrace. Reunited at last dear friends.

I now clearly see how small habits can shape our day from the start, and how important they can be. And how if my day does not start right, it can snowball and effect the rhythm of the rest of my day.

Do you have small habits that help to build momentum for your day? What are they?

The epiphany:

I realize that my blender is not just a tool to blend up my smoothie breakfast, but rather it keeps my healthy habits in check.

It keeps me in line and focused on healthy eating from the moment I wake up. Without it I have to improvise and change my routine (which I can do.. And I did do). I have noticed its absence.

I vow to appreciate my smoothie making machine more once it is back with me.. I promise to use this as a reminder to be more present in the moment (especially when blending a smoothie) and I promise to leave the spoons the heck out of it. ?

In tribute to my wonderful blender that is being repaired, here is a tasty chia breakfast parfait recipe (no blender required!) that will not only energize your morning but will also help you make positive healthy decisions all day!

Cheers to starting the day right!
