We had a great start to our summer, with several warm weeks and sunny days.  We are so lucky! Sometimes our summers are cold and rainy so this sunny start has a lot of people super happy including me!

I find my moods are way more chipper when it is sunny. Do you? Funny how weather can affect our moods.

Don’t talk to me on a rainy day. Kidding!

Ok, so I am a big fan of smoothies.They are fast, tasty and damn healthy if you make them right! They are super quick which is great for those days when you are running behind.. not that I would know (says the girl nearly always 5 minutes late for work…what can I say, I am consistent at least?)

You can have water based smoothies, coconut water based, juice based and creamy smoothies. Really the options are endless for the variety of smoothies! I usually try to throw veggies in mine. I should actually up the ante and add more variety of veggies to my smoothies.

That can be my goal!

PS: I’m pretty casual with my recipes. I try to not be too rigid. Play around with ingredients, mix that shite up and enjoy! (You may need to invest in a good quality blender once you discover how awesome smoothies are to make all the time!)

DEW Notes:

  • High in antioxidants which are great for fighting free radicals
  • Cinnamon is excellent at maintaining balanced blood sugar levels
  • Pumpkin seeds are high in zinc which is vital for health
  • Tasty leafy greens are a great way to incorporate alkaline foods, fiber, vitamins and minerals.
  • Hemp seeds and flax seeds provide healthy omega fats and good fiber …Drink up!

Badass Blue Berry Smoothie

  • – 1 Large Handful of frozen blue berries
  • – 1 large handful of FRESH spinach
  • – 1-2 TBSP almond butter
  • – 1-1.5 cups almond milk or other dairy free milk
  • – A solid dash of cinnamon
  • – A splash of purified water if needed to dilute
  • – 1 TBSP hemp seeds or flax
  • – 1 TBSP pumpkin seeds

Optional: 1-2 TBSP plant –based protein powder

Blend and get your healthy swag on.

Creamy Chocolate Banana

  • – 1 -1.5 cups almond milk (or other dairy free milk)
  • – 1 TBSP cacao powder
  • – 1 TBSP Macca powder  (not to be confused with Matcha!)
  • – 1-2 TBSP almond butter
  • – 1 frozen banana
  • – 1-2 TBSP flax seed or hemp seed

Optional: 1-2 TBSP plant –based protein powder

Blend and enjoy that slice of chocolate banana heaven!

Grounded Green Smoothie

  • – 1 large handful or more of fresh spinach or kale
  • – 1-1.5 cups almond milk (or other dairy free milk)
  • – Dash of cinnamon
  • – 1-2 TBSP almond butter
  • – 1-2 TBSP flax seed or hemp seed
  • – 1 frozen banana

Blend and enjoy. Yum. Thank me later.
